Close your education gap by completing the all-important comprehensive examination. It is a critical item in your war chest. Your university might not have subjected you to it for reasons. For example, if you failed your comprehensive exam, you would be ineligible to continue in your doctoral journey.  To protect what you have spent up to your end of coursework (and before the proposal phase), it would be suicidal for you to fail the comprehensive exam.
